Maja Burdova scored 19 points and Mariah Borce added 11 on Thursday night in Waimea as Ka Makani held off Christian Liberty 24-21, remaining ahead of the Canefire in fourth place in the BIIF girls Division II basketball standings.
HPA (2-4) trailed 9-7 at halftime of a low-scoring affair but outscored Christian Liberty (1-7) 11-2 in the third quarter.
Kassey Hanoa scored 10 points for the Canefire.
Konawaena 72, Kamehameha 18: Caiyle Kaupu scored 21 points to lead four Wildcats in double figures in a road romp.
Kaliana Harrell-Salazar posted 14 points and Kayla Park (13) and Braelyn Kauhi (12) were just behind her for Konawaena (8-0), which holds an average margin of victory of 63.2 points per game against Division II teams.

Boys
Kohala 75, St. Joseph 40: O’Shen Cazimero scored 24 points and the Cowboys eased to a home victory, remaining one of three BIIF unbeatens.
Laakea Kauka scored 13 points for the Cowboys (7-0) and Zak Javillonar added 11. Kohala built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and led 38-17 at halftime.
Evan Costales led the Cardinals (0-8) with 11 points and Johnathan Eftink had 10.

Thursday
Waiakea girls 9, Keaau 0: Maiya Serrao, Jacelyn Cambra and Kelli Xie scored twice apiece on the Cougars’ field as the Warriors put the wraps on an 8-3-1 regular season.
Jadyn Clark, Sienna Beasley and Jayleen Andaya also scored for Waiakea, which will host a BIIF Division I semifinal on Wednesday, most likely against Hilo.
Andaya, Xie and Quinn Prine shared in the shutout of the Cougars (1-10).
Hilo boys 9, Christian Liberty 0: Leha Harmon, Kyler Rivera and Owen Fragas-Van Blarcom each scored two goals as the Vikings stayed on track to earn the top seed in the Division I playoffs.
Keanu Keolanui, Logan Mizuba and Kainalu Lewis also scored for Hilo (8-1) in a match that was moved to Waiakea’s turf field, and Jyson Breitbarth and Tyson Kaniaupio each had a hand in the shutout of the Canefire (1-5-1).
Wednesday
Makua Lani boys 7, Kohala 0: Kai Van Bergan bagged a hat trick in Kapaau as the Lions moved into first place in Division II.
Isaiah Easley, Ka’alele Fernandez, Joshua Luth and Chase Lurbiecki each had a goal for the Lions (7-2), and Dominic Perrino was credited with the shutout of the Cowboys (3-6-1).
Makua Lani can clinch the top seed in the BIIF D-II tournament and an automatic state berth with wins Saturday against Christian Liberty and Tuesday against Hilo.
